AI Consulting in Ottawa
Ottawa businesses split into two groups that need almost opposite advice: the ones selling to the federal government, and the engineering firms in Kanata North selling to everybody else.
Ottawa has an economy shaped by two anchors. The federal public service is the largest employer in the region, and Kanata North is one of the largest technology parks in the country, built on telecom, defence and semiconductor engineering.
If you sell into the federal government, the constraint that decides everything is where data may be processed and stored. That is not a question an automation tool answers on its pricing page, and it is the reason a build that would take three weeks for a Barrie contractor takes eight here. It is also why I quote Ottawa public-sector-adjacent work with the data boundary written into the scope rather than assumed.
The bid and proposal machine
The most valuable automation in an Ottawa firm that sells to government is almost always proposal assembly. A response to a federal solicitation is mostly reuse: corporate boilerplate, past performance, staff CVs mapped to evaluation criteria, and a compliance matrix. Firms rebuild that by hand under deadline, and the errors that lose bids are administrative rather than technical.
That is a workflow automation job with a drafting step, not an agent. The compliance matrix has to be right, and a model that composes it unsupervised will eventually compose it wrong.
Kanata North is a different conversation
Engineering firms in the technology park usually have developers who can build automations themselves, and often have. What they lack is the decision about which ones are worth a staff engineer's week. That is a short engagement: the $999 assessment puts hours and dollars against each candidate, and the build frequently goes to their own team afterwards. That is a fine outcome and the document is written for it.
Working in Ottawa?
Tell me how many people work there, what the busiest hour of the week looks like, and which task everybody complains about. That is usually enough to say on a first call whether an assessment is worth your $999 or whether you have one obvious problem that needs one obvious fix.
